Lillian Moons
Introduction
Hello! My name is Lillian Moons and this is my portfolio website for my CIS195 class. I am a senior at Redmond High School, and will be attending School of Mines in the fall. I will be majoring in mechnichal engineering, but that is subject to change. Despite wanting to go into a STEM realted field, I also really enjoy liberal arts. I do theatre, pottery, and like to read in my free time.
I chose to take this class because I wanted to have some more coding skills under my belt. Last trimester I took an introductory python class. I want to go into college with some prior knowledge about coding.
Through this website I will be cataloging the assignments I complete for CIS195. I have already learned about styling HTML through chaning the color and position of elements, adding shadows, adding images, and much more. I am already enjoying the flexibilty that HTML and CSS offer compared to python.
Participation/ Lab Activities
My participation and lab activities are linked below. So far I have worked on this website (Portfolio), a hobby site, practicing HTML basics site, a hiking site, and much, much more. The specific particpation labs that I have completed range from a simple styles activity to a one labled images and visuals, where we were given more creative freedom. That has probably been my favorite acitivity so far. I have really enjoyed using Virtual Studios Code, given how intuituve and helpful it is for beginners, like myself. It is especially helpful when I am trying to figure out the pathway to a particular image or website.
I have several hobbies, though I would say my most demanding one is by far theatre. Every year we put on two shows, one in the fall and one in the spring, and in between them we prepare pieces for a regionals competition. Outside of theatre I live to go hiking and explore outside. Below is a link to my hiking website. I also enjoy reading. I am currently reading Beloved by Toni Morrison, a heartbreaking novel recounting the horrors of slavery and what trauma can push even the strongest of people to do. I think that these three hobbies (theatre, hiking, reading), are what I will include in my hobby site.
